Dont Keep

A deliberately small note-taking app, still maintained years after release, built to see how far a minimalist premise holds up as a real published product.

Write less, forget: the notes list, each note on its own coloured card.No account, remain anonymous: the same list with the search control.Clear, delete old notes: a single note open on its own screen. And more, get the latest updates: the notes screen with an illustration.

01 · the problem

Note apps accrete. They start as a text box and end up with folders, tags, backlinks, sync conflicts and a subscription. The interesting question was whether the opposite discipline could survive contact with a real published app: keep it to the one thing, and ship it to a store where actual users would judge it.

02 · what i built

Every element earns its place or goes. There is no account and no sign-up, so a note is anonymous by default and there is nothing to manage. Deleting old notes is part of the premise rather than an afterthought, which is where the name comes from. Built on FlutterFlow over Firebase, which was the second experiment running alongside the first: not a demo or a tutorial build, but a product taken all the way through store review, then maintained for years afterwards, which is where a low-code path is actually tested.

No account, ever
No sign-up, no login, no profile. A note is anonymous by default, which means there is nothing to secure, nothing to recover and nothing to migrate.
One note, one card
The list is coloured cards, one per note, with search over them. That is the entire information architecture and it does not grow folders later.
Deleting is the feature
Clearing old notes is built into the premise rather than buried as housekeeping. The app is named after the idea that most notes should not survive.

03 · what happened

Published in July 2023 and still being updated nearly three years later, most recently at version 2.0.2 in March 2026. Free, on iOS 14 and later, filed under Utilities and Productivity.

Questions

What people ask

Why is there no account?

Because an account is the first thing that turns a text box into an app with a settings screen. Without one, a note is anonymous, there is nothing to sign into and nothing to manage, which is the whole premise being tested.

Is it still maintained?

Yes. It was published in July 2023 and was last updated in March 2026, at version 2.0.2. That maintenance tail is part of the point: a low-code build is only really tested once it has to survive several years of OS releases.

What was learned building it on FlutterFlow?

That the interesting question is not whether a low-code tool can produce a working app, which it plainly can, but where it stops being the fastest route. Taking one all the way through store review and then maintaining it is how you find that line rather than guess at it.
